About Mimi

Hi! My name is Mimi. I’m 26, engaged, love DIY and untraditional weddings, finding great deals online, researching anything, and hiking in the mountains. I live in Boulder, Colorado with my fiancé and our cat, The Phyllis. Right now I am planning my own non-traditional, DIY wedding, which is 60s-70s theme and has lots of fake mustaches and awesomeness. I am determined and passionate about finding the best solutions and deals for weddings and I refuse to limit the biggest day of my life to the inside-the-box solutions of the ‘all-inclusive’ wedding package at some sleezy hotel conference room.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything wrong with someone getting married very traditionally at a church with a reception at a hotel – it’s just not what I decided to do.  In my wedding research, I’ve found just about everything there is to know about planning a DIY, affordable, kickass wedding that is about the couple. This is primarily why I decided to write a blog – to share my secrets, tips, and tricks in wedding planning!

A bit of about my early years:

I grew up in small town Indiana where my all of my neighbors each had 10+ acres of land and I spent my days outside making mud pies. I grew very tall and at 6’ everywhere I went people would ask if I was a basketball player. When I would explain that I was not they would say under their breath – ‘waste of height.’  I was a ballerina instead.  I love school so I continued my studies at the University of Evansville where I majored in Archaeology and Art History and minored in Anthropology (NERD ALERT!). Delaying the real world just a bit longer, I went to NYU to get my Masters in Arts Administration. I worked in NYC for about 3 years and then decided to get out before it killed me and moved to Colorado.
